IntranetWatch on Twitter says goodbye
I set up IntranetWatch on Twitter exactly 2 years ago, at the end of August 2008. The purpose was to have a Twitter channel for intranet-related tweets. Although 450 people follow IntranetWatch today, I’ve decided it is time to close it.
Technology has evolved
- The hashtag #intranet has become better known, and lets us tag our intranet-related tweets, making them searchable. This brings the topic together in the Twitter space.
- The creation of Twitter lists lets us follow people who tweet often about intranet-related topics. This helps shape the connections of people in the Twitter space.
- Multiple Twitter apps make it easy to follow topics and people from your computer or smartphone.
Our “intranet culture” has matured
Today, near the end of 2010, there are many more people blogging and tweeting in the intranet space than two years ago. The space is no longer dominated by consultants and solution providers.
People have learned to seek out what interests them and develop their own pull mechanisms using their preferred aggregating software.
So, goodbye IntranetWatch. It was fun! Time to move on.
